ABOUT JASON
Born in 1978 in Southwest Washington, Jason fell in love with the wildlife and nature that surrounded the hobby farm he grew up on. Inspired by other family members who painted and carved wood, he picked up a pencil and started drawing anything that came to mind. He loved it, and never quit! His illustrations went from comic characters to birds, farm animals to deer and elk. Throughout school he entered every art contest he could and a winning painting called “Brothers” now graces the walls of the state capitol building in Washington State. Another painting was chosen to hang in the White House for a year.
Through the years Jason would hone his skill through study and hours of painting. In 2008, he won the Minnesota Trout and Salmon Stamp contest. He has studied other artists such as Leon Parsons, Robert Bateman, Eero Osterberg and Lanny Grant and has learned the importance of value, depth, color, drawing and subject matter.
Today, Jason creates his paintings in oil and works off of his sketches and photographs. He lives with his wife and bundle of kids in Central Minnesota.
